For brokers, wealth managers & fund platforms

Collect account opening and KYC documents from investors, directors and beneficial owners in one place.

An account cannot open until every owner of 25% has sent a passport and a proof of address that is recent enough. Intaky turns investment account opening into one checklist you send as a link, with each director and owner invited to add their own identity, and reminders that go out on their own.

What documents does an investment firm need to open a client account?

For an individual investor:

  • proof of identity, a passport or national ID card;
  • proof of address, a utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months;
  • a recent statement for the account that will fund the investment, where you ask for one;
  • their tax identification number, nationality and countries of tax residency;
  • declarations on PEP status and on whether they are a US citizen or US tax resident.

Plus the suitability answers: investment experience, risk appetite, horizon and objectives, and the occupation and source of funds behind the expected initial investment. For a corporate investor: the certificate of incorporation, an ownership structure chart, the beneficial owners of 25% or more, the company’s source of funds, tax residency, tax identification number and FATCA/CRS classification, and proof of identity and address from each director and beneficial owner.

Intaky’s investment account template asks for exactly these, each document next to the questions it supports. For KYC on suppliers and partners rather than investors, see KYC & vendor onboarding.

Why account opening drags on

  • The proof of address is a bank statement from eight months ago, and you only see the date once it is in the file.
  • The ownership chart shows three people above 25%. One has sent a passport; the other two do not know they are needed.
  • Source of funds arrives as one word, "savings", in an email that someone has to copy into the file.
  • A company treasurer asks by phone what FATCA classification means, and the answer never reaches the application.

The work is not the review. It is holding the thread between what you asked each person for, what has turned up and who you still need to chase — and Intaky is built to hold that thread instead of you.

The investment account opening template

A starter pack for individual and corporate investors. Each document sits next to the questions it evidences, and nobody is asked again for the name and email they gave when they signed up. Everything below can be renamed, removed or added to in the form builder, so a personal account and a corporate account can be two different links from the same workspace.

How it runs for an investment firm

01

One link per account type

Make a "Personal account" link and a "Corporate account" link on your own subdomain, with your logo and colours. Each has its own questions and documents, so a client only ever sees the list that applies to them.

02

Invite every owner, then stop chasing

The company contact invites each director and beneficial owner separately, and each gets their own short list. Give the link a due date and a reminder interval: Intaky emails whoever still owes something every few days, only during working hours in your timezone, and stops after six nudges.

03

Accept, or send one thing back

When a proof of address is too old, reject that one item with a note. Everything you already accepted stays locked, and every step is kept in the audit trail. Export the finished case as a PDF with the documents attached for your KYC file, or let the webhook tell your own system it is approved.

Questions about investment account opening

What documents are needed to open an investment account?

For an individual: a passport or national ID card, proof of address dated within the last three months, a tax identification number and, often, a recent statement for the account that will fund the investment. The firm also asks about investment experience, risk appetite, horizon and objectives, occupation and source of funds, and for declarations on PEP status, tax residency and US person status. Intaky's investment account template asks for all of these.

What KYC documents does a company need to open a corporate investment account?

The certificate of incorporation, an ownership structure chart down to the beneficial owners, a list of everyone who owns or controls 25% or more, the company's tax residency, tax identification number and FATCA/CRS classification, and a source of funds. Each director and beneficial owner then provides their own proof of identity, proof of address and PEP declaration.

How do I collect ID and proof of address from every beneficial owner?

The person managing the company's application lists the beneficial owners and invites each director and owner of 25% or more by email. Each one fills in only their own identity section: date of birth, address, nationality, tax residency, ownership percentage and PEP status, with a passport or ID card and a recent proof of address.

How do I stop chasing new clients for account opening documents?

Send each client one account opening link with a due date and let the reminders do the chasing. Intaky emails whoever still owes something every few days, only during working hours in your timezone, and stops after six reminders. You see which applications are complete and exactly which items the others still owe.

What happens when a client sends an out-of-date proof of address?

You reject that one item with a note, for example that the statement must be dated within the last three months. The client sees the note and replaces only that item; everything you have already accepted stays locked.

Can the application carry our firm's branding?

Yes. Your logo and colours appear on your own subdomain, on every page the client sees.

Does Intaky verify identity or screen investors for sanctions and PEP status?

No. Intaky collects the documents and the client's own declarations, including whether they are a politically exposed person. Your firm verifies identity, screens against sanctions and PEP lists, assesses suitability and decides whether to open the account. A webhook can push an approved case into your own systems, and each case exports as a PDF with its documents for your KYC file.
